Scotguiding Terms & Conditions 2011


After a proposal has been made to the client by and the client accepts the offer it is considered a confirmed booking and is therefore subject to a 40% deposit. Generally the deposit will need to be paid within 7-14 days of Scotguiding receiving the confirmation from the client. This timeframe will be confirmed at time of booking. Failure to receive the deposit within the agreed timeframe will mean that the booking will be considered cancelled by


All quotations provided by include guiding up to 4 hours for a half day and 8 hours for a full day. Where a client is looking for an itinerary over and above the usual hours, an overtime fee may apply.


Clients will be asked to cover the cost of guide's lunch, dinner and accommodation costs during the length of the tour. (For group/coach tours client may be booking agent). Receipts will be provided and we endeavour to make these costs as low as possible.

Client to cover out of pocket expenses if group to be met outwith Edinburgh (Additional £2.00 fee for meet/drop-off Edinburgh Airport).

Client to cover any pre-tour specially requested preparation, including tour planning. Price will be dependent on tour.

In all cases we will strive to use public transport/own transport to travel to/from pick up/drop-off point. There may be circumstance when a taxi is required and client will cover cost of taxi fare. This will only be in necessary circumstances (eg after midnight) and where possible agreed with agent in advance.

Depending on the nature of the tour, a telephone fee can be added. On an average tour this is usually less than £5 per week. will advise at time of offer whether visitor attractions are included in the cost or if they are to be paid directly by the client on arrival at the attraction. All ferry costs will be covered by the client.

CANCELLATION – Full day tour or half day tour

If less than 7 days notice of cancellation is given, a fee of 50% will be payable, if less than 48 hours the full fee is payable.

CANCELLATION – Extended Tour
(More than single day touring) (negotiable)

Cancellation of tour with no penalty is acceptable up to 28 days before scheduled beginning. Any tour planning will still require payment.

50% of fee if tour is cancelled between 28 days and up to 3 weeks before scheduled beginning 100% of tour fee if tour cancelled within 3 weeks of scheduled beginning.

Any deposit or tour plan fee paid will not be refunded.
If any hotel bookings have been made on behalf of the client and if the hotel cancellation policies are different to above, these seperate contracts will be advised to client.


The cost of the tour will depend vehicle you choose and the length of tour.

All rates include fuel costs but no entrances or other expenses.

TOUR PLANNING (agreed in discussion with client)

A tour plan fee may be required depending on the amount of preparation work required.


In some cases it may be necessary to charge a tour planning fee and any fee quoted must be paid in full along with the deposit.
Full payment is required 28 days before arrival.

Cash payment, BACS transfer or British cheques are acceptable.
